Ideas for Generating Advertising
1. Friends, family, coworker's, and neighbors. Let all of them know what
you are doing. You don't need to try and sell them on an ad, just let them
know what you are involved in and ask their considering you the next time
they need to advertise anything.
2. Fleet Managers at local Auto Dealerships. As they deal in volume, they
are always looking to advertise their wares to as big an audience as is
possible.
3. Local Collector Car Auctions. This is an ideal means to pick up an ad or
two.
4. Your own local classifieds. This is both the regular newspaper and any
free weekly circulars. Watch for items which would be of interest on a
national, regional, or local basis. Antiques, collector autos, coins,
travel tickets. These are just a few. Call the advertiser. Ask them if they
would be interested in appealing to a larger population base.
5. Local ad agencies. Package a deal together for them. Something which
they could use for their clients. You have to remember that spending $250
on a lunch for these people while they are trying to attract a large
account is small change. Offering them an ad package of say 500 ads to use
as they see fit would fit right into their monthly budget and if SilverNet
would sway only a single account every six months, it would more than pay
for itself.
6. Travel Agencies.
7. Take your own ad out in one of the free weekly circulars. Don't expect
immediate results but if a company sees your ad on a consistent basis, they
will trust you enough to do business.
8. Post flyers at Grocery Stores.
9. Offer a commission to those users on your board to those users that
bring you advertisers.. 5 to 20% of revenue from those advertisers
will bring a lot of money to those that work at selling your services.
Draw a big check on your bulletin screen advertising silvernet with
your users name... make it a commission check payable to your user..
Many Many more.
The key is persistence. Keep working towards it and it will come. Don't set
your goals too high. One big account which generates $1000 a month is nice
but if you lose it, you lose a big chunk of change. If you had 10 accounts
generating $100 a month, losing one wouldn't detract that much from your
income. Of course these numbers are not numbers to live by. 10 $1000
accounts are much nicer than the 10 $100 accounts.
